America fell out of love with Guitar Hero about as quickly as it was initially seduced, and Activision put the name out to pasture after the soft sales of Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock, and the entirely unnecessary triptych of band-specific spinoffs for Van Halen, Aerosmith, and Metallica (remember those?). Of course, we now know just how unsustainable those franchises ended up being. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, and it felt like the momentum was never going to give out. Everyone started hoarding plastic instruments, every game store started up local and regional tournaments, a 16-year old named Blake from North Carolina dropped out of school to play the game full-time. Once he realizes what he’s done, he stares speechlessly at the screen, mouth agape, before finally exclaiming, “I just f-ing got it!” All-caps messages scroll through the chat as viewers share their joy and disbelief at what they just witnessed. The charts, all created by ExileLord, go beyond what defines hard in the peripheral-based rhythm game franchise and instead broach the realm of physically impossible.
